Overhead movement is a different mechanical problem
When a shading or curtain system moves above the user, gravity, access and geometry become more important. The motor still provides movement, but the complete result depends on how the load is guided, supported and controlled throughout the travel path.
Start with the opening geometry
Measure the opening, travel direction, available headroom and fixing points. A flat skylight, sloped opening or custom overhead shape can require different mechanical layouts. The movement path should be decided before the motor is selected.
Load and friction matter throughout the travel
The system must remain stable across the full opening, not only at the starting position. Fabric tension, rail alignment and friction can change the demand on the motor. This is why NERVEN’s skylight-related motor options should be matched to the final system rather than selected in isolation.
Control should consider visibility and access
Overhead systems are often difficult to reach manually. Remote control, wall controls or automation can therefore become part of normal usability rather than a luxury feature. In larger projects, skylights may also be grouped by zone or linked to wider automation scenarios.
Plan maintenance before the ceiling closes
Motor access, electrical connections and service points should be coordinated with the ceiling and architectural finishes. A clean concealed installation is valuable only if critical components can still be inspected or replaced when needed.
For honeycomb skylights
NERVEN’s current motor source includes a dedicated Venetian motor for honeycomb skylight applications, with a built-in receiver, electronic limiting, soft start and stop and constant-speed behaviour. The final selection still depends on the dimensions and configuration of the actual system.
The design question is bigger than “which motor?”
A successful skylight system combines motor, mechanical path, fabric or panel behaviour, limits, controls and access into one coordinated solution. The overhead position makes that coordination especially important.
